Uncommon Beauty in Common Places!

Having fun with different colors, textures and materials is what transforms these Naples high-rise common areas into an enchanting and inviting oasis.

K2 Design gave this space a sense of awe and tranquility with warm lush colors – allowing one to drift back to Caribbean sunsets and lush island beauty.

Elevator Lobby

Lighting is everything! Desiring an elegant look but also a feel of comfortable sophistication as guests arrive, K2 Design commissioned the lobby’s lighting features from Israel.

Two impressive silk on metal Hibiscus lighting pieces flank both sides of the elevator doors. While a tropical emerald green artistic light feature takes center stage for the lobby’s concave ceiling.

Color and Material Merge to Make a Dramatic Statement.

Lush tropical greens and burnt orange shades intensify the warmth and inviting feel of the lobby. Comfortable seating and durable Quartzite stone floor is the finality to an elegant entrance.

Mosaic Glass Tile Hibiscus Water Feature

The Mosaic Hibiscus Water Feature Beckons with Hypnotic Charm.

The beautiful water feature was once an ugly duckling that was transformed into a beautiful swan – well maybe, a beautiful Hibiscus flower.

Mesmerizing oranges, sophisticated reds, and tropical shades of green mosaic glass tile give this water feature charisma as the soft sound of cascading water gently relaxes your spirit.

Installing soft reflective lighting to this already breathtaking room, three poetic philodendron motif wall light features bring the serene lush landscape indoors. Designed and engineered from airplane grade aluminum allows it to weather the test of time.

Clean lines, stainless steel, granite countertops, extra storage and seating – highly efficient in every aspect.

K2 Design took an old 80″s clubhouse kitchen and gave it some pizzazz – enlarged the room, lifted the ceiling and added porcelain wood grain tiled walls, stainless appliances, task lighting and breathtaking mink countertops.

Achieving the right atmosphere and mood, four incandescent pendant lights with dimmers set the tone for an enjoyable evening with friends.

Much Needed Mail Center Added to this Naples High-Rise

Much Loved Mail Center Added to this Naples High-Rise.

For residents’ convenience, adding a much needed mail, package and cart room in this Naples high-rise was a perfect solution.

Specially designed to be an all in one “mail center”, handling all types of deliveries and pickups, it is perfectly situated at garage level as residents enter and exit the building. Handy documents counter and recycle bin for junk mail keeps clutter down before heading up.

Crisp cotton white and patience colored walls, recessed, task and ambient lighting all work together to keep the enclosed area fresh and airy.

Behind the scene, this mail center was an engineering feat. Retrieving unused space that had been backfilled when the building was constructed, K2 Design redesigned the depth of the water feature directly above to allow the ceiling of the mail room to be raised creating this essential mail center and much loved space.

Luxurious Fantasy

Chic Beauty, Functionality and Inspiration melt together in a sea of imagination giving the awesome illusion of being underwater.

This unique ocean front condominium was designed for a family that embraces the love of the ocean and sunny fun days on Florida’s beaches.

The Living Room

…dive in and experience an “underwater view” of the sea.

Transforming designer beams and “barnacles” create depth, color, and character all of its own. We chose beautiful natural fabric, high gloss Italian finishes and pieces that were both practical and multifunctional but gave way to simple elegance. What more could you ask for in a living area?

But wait – not only stylish – the clean line sofa easily converts into a queen bed in seconds while the huge desk provides space to catch up on email, watch TV or gaze out at the kite surfers or midnight stars.

The commissioned paintings by Kellye Keegan, K2Design resident artist, are the finale to this living area – breathtaking, vivid colors that pop with excitement – pulsing fabrics, textures, and design together in unity.

Kellye’s paintings fill the room with excitement as white glossy lacquered shelves and cabinets (containing audio visual and gaming systems) are paired below each painting bringing perfect balance to this mesmerizing room.

Designed for Originality, Functionality and Family Life

Designed for Originality, Functionality and Family Life

Keeping with the “under the sea” design, K2 rearranged the original setting for the dining area to make it a center for family conversations, dinners and fun projects leaving the living area large for family gatherings.

Keeping the dining room open and light, but separate from the corridor and powder room, a millwork partition was designed with a circle opening for displaying art.  The porthole mirror on the opposite wall is a reminder of an ocean vessel and is surrounded by a wall of storage panels – similar to those you find on a luxury liner.  How cool is that!

The contemporary style transparent glass table top focuses on the rich walnut wood bases resembling coquina shells. Dramatic iconic red chairs originally designed by Eero Saarinen in 1957 take center stage with pops of color.

The imported limestone floor is inlaid with coffee stained bamboo strips to match the long “fin-like” planks on the wall next to the bar. Soft lights behind the planks cast a soft moonlit feel into the room.

The lighting is magical! Dramatic fixtures draw you in to this under the sea adventure.  Five individual amazing “starfish” wood veneer shades hung at different lengths from a large plate suspended from the ceiling cast an aurora of subtle beauty over the room.

Soft Colors and Textiles Echo Serenity

Soft Colors and Textile Echo Serenity

The Master Bedroom soothes the senses softly and refreshes the spirit with the “hush” of soft colors and textiles. This island oasis is our client’s favorite place to unwind and be surrounded by the sound of ocean waves.

The tete`-a-tete´ seating is beyond comfortable and is chicly clad in light woven textile.  The cozy “clean” ethanol fireplace for those cool breezy nights sits on a drawer filled platform with extra hidden storage.

The beautiful upholstered platform bed makes your heart skip a beat with its simple elegance in textures and tones of deep eggplant and greens.

Making life a little sweeter, the soothing carpet colors in various shades of blue and green pulls the room together and draws the sea inward.

Warm Tones Creates a Sophisticated Powder Room

Warm Tones Creates a Sophisticated Powder Room

Captivated by warm tones and a stunning mosaic mural of barracudas, the sea motif compliments this compact powder room – reminiscent of Caribbean life.

The artwork was designed by K2 in small glass mosaic pieces in shades of steel blue, cerulean, midnight, greys and whites infused with silver leaf mosaic pieces. Commissioned to bring this design to life from our sketches, an expert mosaic mural craftsman harmoniously created this mesmerizing work of art.

With a bit of sophisticated strategy K2 brought pizzazz, practicality and openness to this powder room by using different sizes and shapes of white lacquered boxes.

The simplicity of elegantly contrasting colors defines the room’s awe-inspiring artwork and sconces while creating a place for future pieces of art.

But practically is not forgotten!  White lacquered boxes create storage for hand towels and frame the mirror and light fixture reflecting the openness of the space.

The separate beverage station conforming to religious custom also serves as a bar with wine refrigeration. Sargent Architectural PhotographyTo calm the home’s formerly boxy demeanor, a curvilinear approach in many rooms includes interlocking circles repeated in ceiling, countertop, lighting and tile detail. This can be seen in the kitchen’s ceiling details and the graceful curves of many of the zebrawood cabinet panels.

Change is good. Nothing’s better than wood for conveying tradition. This Marco Island retreat is far from contemporary, for sure. Even the most modern design benefits from the rich color and deep grain of wood.

Designers Beware

Posted in K2 News on May 13th, 2010 by Jenny Provost

The topsy turvy real estate market is creating some nightmare situations that designers need to watch out for. While the press is gushing with stories of bargains at every turn, reality has a jagged edge. When a custom furniture manufacturer packs up and leaves town overnight, what’s a girl to do? With trades shutting down without warning and vendor bankruptcies spiking, it takes raw K2 talent to deliver jobs on time and within budget.

Walking After Midnight

Front Dusk SMALL

Our dreams of the Tropics are framed by palms.  Most palms originated in rain forests.  While their survival is threatened in many parts of the world - where they’re relied on for everything from food to clothing - they thrive in South Florida.  Exotic, romantic and mysterious, they come in an incredible variety of shapes and sizes.  Certainly, the raggedy palm frond tugs at our heart strings.  Beside this Captiva Island home, they’re lovely.

Balcony2Small

Our design for the waterfront setting called for tropical finesse. Natural surfaces, woven-reed furnishings and plenty of palms play largely in its success.
